Yesterday we went to the Changsha Embroidery Museum. There are I believe, 4 different "schools" of embroidery in China. We saw some different styles in Chongching in 2005 with Aliya. You have to see these works of art to believe them. Pictures won't do them justice but I will post them anyway. They all are, I believe, superior in detail and realism than any photograph or the photographs they are copied from. They also do double sided pieces using two needles each coming in from opposite sides of the fabric at the same time. These are all hand made pieces taking a couple of years or more to complete with multiple artists in some cases. I can tell you more in person if you are interested.
